9am-12noon Ecological restoration – volunteer to work on the farm, removing invasive species, plant sunflower seeds, pick up trash or prepare garden beds for spring plantings.
12:30-1:00pm Presentation from a Master Gardener on “Viva La Vines “ Maximize your garden space by growing up. Learn all about vines, the support structures they need and some of the best perennial and annual vines for our growing area.
12:30-2:30pm Fischer Farm will be open for tours and to explore.
1:00-1:30pm Take a nature hike. Learn about the native plants growing at Fischer Farm along the way.
1:30-2:30pm Make pinecone bird feeders, participate in a nature scavenger hunt, make an eco-snack and learn about green steps you can take around your home.
Ecological Restoration and Stewardship Program Work Dates
Hundreds of hands for preservation! The Bensenville Park District has committed to the development of an Ecological Restoration and Stewardship Plan to restore and maintain the natural park areas and preserve our natural heritage throughout the District. Work dates are weather permitting. Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch
When: Sunday, May 14
Where: White Pines Golf Club & Banquets, 500 W. Jefferson St., Bensenville
Time: Seatings 9:30am-2:30pm
Brunch highlights include carving, omelet, crepe and antipasto stations. Other brunch items to be enjoyed are assorted appetizers, cold seafood, fruit trays, salads, breads, and a sweet table. Guests can choose from traditional brunch favorites as well as some delightful culinary surprises created just for this special event. A Bloody Mary bar will also be available. Tea with Alice Roosevelt

Visit with Alice after she returns from a diplomatic expedition to the Far East in 1905 with her new fiancée in tow. In her early 20s, Alice brings her own brand of fiery wit to tell of her eastern adventures, her relationship with her presidential father, Teddy Roosevelt, her privacy-loving step-mother, Edith Roosevelt, and the reasons behind her romantic alliance with Nick Longworth. She will happily answer any questions you have. Her conversations may be winding but they are filled with a witty humor that continues to help make Alice friends…and enemies.
