Holiday Lights Recycling Program

Have your holiday lights lost their twinkle? The Bensenville Park District is collecting broken lights from November through March at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. All colors and lengths of Mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords are accepted. This program is in cooperation with Fenton High School’s Bison’s Environmental Activist Team.
Ecological Restoration and Stewardship Program Work Dates
Hundreds of hands for preservation! The Bensenville Park District has committed to the development of an Ecological Restoration and Stewardship Plan to restore and maintain the natural park areas and preserve our natural heritage throughout the District. Work dates are weather permitting. Improve the health and vitality of your garden by using the organic matter generated in your home and yard. You will also learn the benefits of composting.
Holiday Bazaar & Ladies Night Out
When: Friday, December 2
Where: White Pines Golf Club & Banquets, 500 W. Jefferson St.
Enjoy a night of boutique shopping and mini spa services, while sipping Champagne,* with your girlfriends. There will also be a DJ, demos, and drawings! $10 entrance fee includes complimentary drawing ticket and glass of Champagne*! Bring a non-perishable food item and/or a toy to receive an additional drawing ticket. Pay at the door or purchase your tickets in advance at White Pines, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and Saturdays from 9am-3pm. You may also purchase tickets at Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood St., during regular registration hours. *Must be over 21.

Where: Fischer Farm, 16W680 Grand Ave., Bensenville
Free! Step back into yesteryear to start the holiday season by enjoying an old-fashioned Christmas at Fischer Farm. Enjoy a hayride around the farm, then come in and warm up with hot chocolate and desserts. Gather in the parlor and enjoy the traditional sounds of the holiday season listening to the York High School Brass Quintet. This will prove to be an enjoyable afternoon for the whole family!
Pictures with Santa
When: Tuesday, December 6
Where: Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood St., Bensenville
Time: Kids 6-7:30pm, Pets 7:30-9pm
Bring your children and/or pet to the Bensenville Park District for a picture perfect moment with good old Santa Claus! Each child or pet will receive a photo and a special treat from Santa. Registration is required at the Deer Grove Leisure Center; participants will be given a time slot upon registration. All under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Photos are $7 each.
The Historic Holiday Express Train
When: Friday, December 9, 6:30-8:30pm; Saturday, December 10, 5-7pm and 7:30-9:30pm
Where: Veterans Park, Bensenville
Climb aboard the Black Chicago Gravel Steam Locomotive #18 and head for the North Pole. Passengers of the historic 1922 steam locomotive will watch The Polar Express Movie while enjoying hot chocolate, cookies and popcorn. Santa will make an appearance, visit with the kids, and pass out candy. Parents are urged to bring the kids in pajamas and to pack pillows.
Bensenville Park District’s, Veterans Park, is located at Church Road and Green Street and provides the backdrop for this historic holiday event. The cost is $7 and seats are limited. Where: White Pines Golf Club & Banquets, 500 W. Jefferson St., Bensenville
Enjoy a holiday brunch featuring an appearance by good ol’ St. Nick. Children are able to visit and have a photo taken with Santa, join in holiday craft activities and games. Main buffet selections include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, baked French toast, breakfast casserole, biscuits and gravy, fruit display and salad bar. A special kid-sized buffet will have kid friendly favorites such as pizza, pigs in a blanket, macaroni and cheese, tator tots, and fruit salad. Assorted breads, desserts and beverages are also presented. The fees for this event are $14.99 for adults, $7.99 for children ages 5-11, and $4.99 for children 4 and under. Prices do not include tax and service fee. Space is limited; reservations are required at 630-766-0304, ext.2.
Santa Train Ride - both times are sold out

Where: Bensenville Train Station, 110 W. Main St., Bensenville
Times: 11:04am-12:35pm and 3:04-4:35pm
Your trip to the North Pole (Elgin) begins at Bensenville Train Station. During the trip, Santa’s helpers will read the story of the “Polar Express”, play games, sing carols, and Santa himself will visit with all the boys and girls. Each child will receive a special gift from Santa that will remind them of their trip on the Bensenville Park District’s Polar Express. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
